Ani Eastwood Fine Art Wild and Scenic Western Landscapes
Childhood for me was full of playing in the Blackfoot and Bitterroot rivers in Montana. It was this history of being close to rivers that led me to become passionate about rafting, painting and eventually pursuing a career as a river guide in Grand Canyon National Park. In the warmer months, I explore wild and scenic rivers of the west equally dear to me, and then sit down in my home town of Missoula to paint during the long winters. I paint from photographs I have taken during outdoor adventures in the Southwest, Northern Idaho, and Montana . The unbelievable beauty in our forests and deserts provide constant inspiration for new paintings. Although I do not try to attain realism with my work, I try to make each composition recognizable as the specific locations I have come to know and love to return to year after year. My hope is that my landscapes might evoke the same feeling of value, beauty and serenity the wild and scenic rivers of the west provide all of us.
Currently, I continuously add to my three primary collections of original oils, and personally edit and print reproductions from these. Most images in the Artist’s shop represent my Montana and Salmon River Collections. I also carry a few of my Colorado River/Grand Canyon reproductions in the shop. Each original oil painting takes 1-2 winters to fully finish. I paint in a somewhat traditional renaissance layering style with oil paint and study multiple photographs I’ve taken of my favorite landscapes. As my love for woodworking has grown, I build/frame and stretch all of my original canvas pieces and reproductions; as well as handcraft fine art displays and some furniture. Reproductions are archival gallery quality giclée prints, and I embellish my framed work with acrylic paints to give them a more original feel and texture.
I currently accept commission/ work of various kinds (painting, woodworking, and giclée printing for other artists), and am happy to quote an original oil or framed giclée if you are interested in any of my work. To see more examples of my collections, as well as many other talented craftsman, please feel free to continue to drop by the Artist’s Shop, or browse online.
I hope everyone can enjoy these images as a reminder of the beautiful wilderness we are all privileged to explore.
